A Georgia teen who jumped in to help his co-workers at Burger King right after graduating high school has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the fast food chain.

According to the New York Post, Mykale Baker, a recent graduate of Mills Creek High School, was gifted $10,000 from the Burger King Foundation after his feel-good story went viral on social media.

Baker, 18, graduated last month, and instead of celebrating his achievement, the teen worked a late-night shift at a Burger King in Dacula, Georgia after seeing his co-workers were swamped with customers.

Patron Maria Mendoza noticed that Baker was still wearing his graduation stole and medals as he bagged fries. Mendoza shared a video on TikTok of Baker's selfless act, which garnered over 4 million views.

The customer also started a GoFundMe for Baker to raise money for his future college education. The fundraiser, titled “From Burger King to a College Dream,” earned over $190,000 as of Wednesday (June 4).

“He didn’t do it for attention. He doesn’t even know his story went viral. But thousands of people were moved by his dedication, humility, and work ethic,” Mendoza wrote.

The Burger King Foundation also awarded Mendoza's daughter, Daizie Chavez, $10,000 for her future education.
